Allscripts Acquires HealthGrid, Grows Consumer Engagement Platform

Allscripts recently announced its acquisition of HealthGrid Holding Company (HealthGrid). The acquisition totled $60 million, in addition to $50 million in earnout payments.

Allscripts anticipates that the purchase will help bolster its FollowMyHealth consumer engagement solutions offerings. Specifically, the company believes the integration will improve functionality, as well as allow provider organizations to reach 100 percent on patient populations without the need for consumers to first sign up for a patient portal. In the future, Allscripts also plans to add appointment confirmation, waitlist notification functionality, and post-discharge surveys to its FollowMyHealth platform.
