Google & Fitbit Partner To Integrate Wearables With Electronic Health Records For ‘Bidirectional’ Data Exchange
Fitbit and Google recently decided to partner to integrate wearables with electronic health records (EHR) for a “bidirectional” data exchange. The announcement has resulted in a nine percent jump for Fitbit’s shares.
Specifically, the partnership will integrate data from Fitbit devices with EHRs by utilizing Google’s Cloud Healthcare API. Through the new Google API, wearables will be able transmit users’ health metrics to their EHR on a daily basis. Google and Fitbit anticipate that this will allow clinical professionals to make more informed and coordinated clinical decisionmaking, as well as allow users’ health data to be more easily . . .
