Starting A Permanent Supportive Housing Model
As the CEO of a Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) right outside Richmond, Virginia, I and my executive leadership team recognized the need to increase housing options for individuals who were homeless or inadequately housed. The individuals we targeted for a program had a serious and persistent mental illness (SMI), and many also had co-occurring substance use and serious physical health problems.
