San Francisco to Create 500 Independent Subsidized Housing Units for Persons With Disabilities
OPEN MINDS On-Line News On November 27, 2007, the parties to the class action lawsuit, Chambers et al. v. City and County of San Francisco, reached a preliminary settlement agreement, which includes the City’s creation of 500 units of independent subsidized housing over the next 5 years for persons with disabilities. Current residents of the city’s 1,100-bed Laguna Honda nursing home will be eligible for the new housing unit, as will people who have been discharged from the facility, or people who are awaiting placement at the facility.
