July 22, 2002 Ruth Cooper Center To Purchase Charter Glade Hospital The Ruth Cooper Center in Fort Myers made a formal offer on June 14, 2002 to purchase the former 144-bed Charter Glade psychiatric hospital. The private non-profit mental health center signed a purchase contract for the former hospital property in February and had a 90-day due-diligence period to make a final decision, which was extended to June 14. The purchase price  wasn't disclosed. Charter Glade shut its doors in June 2000 after its parent company filed for bankruptcy. The property is owned by Crescent . . .
