December 8, 2003 Centura Health Launches TeleMedicine Pilot Project Centura Health at Home, a division of Centura Health Inc. (Centura), announced on November 4, 2003, that it will conduct a pilot program using telemedicine technology to monitor home-bound, chronically ill patients. Centura will use technology from American TeleCare Inc. to enable nurses to conduct daily, two-way video consultations over standard telephone lines with patients. The patients will use medical devices in the home, including an electronic stethoscope, blood pressure, weight scale, and pulse oximeter, to enable a nurse to monitor vital signs, patient appearance, and other clinical elements . . .
