17.9% Medicaid Readmission Rate For Mental & Behavioral Disorders In 2009-2010
During 2010, about 9.4% of hospitalized Medicaid beneficiaries under age 65 were readmitted within 30 days after discharge, and about 19.4% of all readmissions involved individuals hospitalized for mental and behavioral health disorders. About 17.9% of individuals hospitalized for mental and behavioral health disorders were readmitted within 30 days. Mental and behavioral health conditions were the second highest reason for admission after pregnancy, childbirth, and their complications.
