In 2014, 0.2% of Medicare Part B fee-for-service beneficiaries used telehealth services. About 66% of this use was for evaluation and management services, and 19% was for psychiatric services. Telehealth services are defined as remote clinical care by two-way videoconferencing.

These findings were reported in "TELEHEALTH: Use in Medicare and Medicaid" by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The GAO presented the findings in a statement given as testimony before the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Energy, and Trade and Subcommittee on Health and Technology, Committee on Small Business, House of Representatives.
