In 2014, Almost One-Third Of Physicians Participated In An ACO
In 2014, 30% of physicians said they were participating in an accountable care organization (ACO) and 7% said they were planning to participate in an ACO. In 2013, 24% were participating and 10% were planning to participate. Among primary care physicians in 2014, 43% are in (35%) or expect to participate (8%) in an ACO in 2014, compared to 37% of the general population of physicians. ACO participation has increased steadily since 2011 when the first ACOs launched and only 3% of physicians said they participated and 5% were planning to.
