FFS Medicare Program Overbilled By Provider Organizations In 21 States In Fiscal Year 2015

In federal fiscal year 2015, 21 states provider organizations submitted bills with higher than average rates of improper overpayments for Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) services. On average, about 12.1% of Medicare claims nationally were inaccurate, representing $43.3 billion in improper payments. Louisiana had the highest projected improper payment rate at 19.4%.
