38% Of Youth & Adults In The United States Are Obese
About 38% of youth and adults in the United States are obese; they have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher. As of 2014, the prevalence of obesity among youth was 17%, and was 36% among adults. Among adults, the prevalence of obesity increased with age, with a 32.3% prevalence among young adults, a 40.2% prevalence among middle-aged adults, and 37.0% among adults age 65 and older.
