Adoptive Families Sue Indiana DCS Over Failure To Pay Adoption Subsidies
On June 2, 2014, an adoptive parent of three special needs children sued the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) for failing to provide adoption subsidies that it had agreed to pay in the adoption contract. In 2009, DCS assumed responsibility for making the payments from counties that had done so previously.
