Adults Age 65+ Made 15.9% Of Emergency Department Visits In 2012 & 2013

During 2012 and 2013, emergency department (ED) visits by adults aged 65 and over comprised 15.9% of total ED visits. The annual average of ED visits by older adults included 5.2 million visits for injury, representing 14.0% of all annual injury visits, and 15.5 million visits for illness, representing 16.7% of all annual illness visits.
