Alaska Considering Privatizing Four Juvenile Justice Facilities
On May 25, 2016, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) released a request for proposals (RFP 160000078 ) seeking a feasibility study on privatizing or transitioning services of four DHSS Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facilities. The study will focus on short-term detention centers in Kenai, Palmer, Nome, and Ketchikan. The goal is to determine if privatizing the facilities could cut state outlays while still maintaining the quality of care. Proposals are due by June 22, 2016.
