Alaska Considering Privatizing Pharmacy Services Delivered At Its Six Long-Term Care ‘Pioneer Homes’

On May 25, 2016, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) released a request for proposals (RFP 160000080) seeking a feasibility study on privatizing or transitioning long-term care pharmacy services delivered at the six Alaska Pioneer Homes. Proposals are due by June 22, 2016. The state intends to announce awards by June 30, 2016, with the contract to begin by July 11, 2016.

Currently, the Pioneer Home central pharmacy, which opened in January 1998, is located on the lower level of the Anchorage Home. The central pharmacy provides services to the six homes located in Sitka, Ketchikan . . .
