Arizona Re-Opens Enrollment For KidsCare CHIP Program
On July 27, 2016, the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Arizona’s request to reopen enrollment for its Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), called KidsCare. Enrollment in KidsCare has been frozen since March 2010 when the state implemented the freeze in response to a budget shortfall caused by the recession. The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AZHCCCS) began accepting new applications on July 26, 2016. Children will be able to access services beginning September 1, 2016.
