Arkansas DHS Juvenile Justice Transformation To Focus On Youth Treatment & Aftercare
On November 16, 2018, the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) announced plans to transform the juvenile justice system so that it focuses on individualized treatment and prepares the youth, their families, and the community for returning home. As part of the transformation, the DHS Division of Youth Services (DYS) intends to close two facilities, and for the remaining DYS facilities and programs will implement performance-based contracts in upcoming procurements for juvenile treatment centers and for aftercare programs. Aftercare programs will receive a one-time additional funding increase of $750,000.
