Better Identification, Access To Services Needed To Prevent Youth Homelessness

Early interventions to prevent youth homelessness include better identification of at-risk individuals and better access to services to help families and youth manage conflicts that result in homelessness, according to a survey of homeless youth.

Youth become homeless for a variety of reasons, including untreated trauma, family conflict, domestic violence, issues related to sexuality, aging out of foster care, and financial difficulties.
