Between 2016 & 2021, Youth Medicaid & CHIP Diabetes Prevalence Increased By 11.4%
Among children covered by Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the prevalence of diabetes increased between 2016 and 2021. Pediatric diabetes prevalence rose from 2.73 cases per 1,000 youth enrollees in 2016 to 3.04 cases per 1,000 in 2021, an increase of 11.4%.
