Cancer Patients With Health Insurance Have $712 Per Month In Out-Of-Pocket Costs
Even with health insurance, the average cancer patient still incurs $712 in monthly bills for physician copayments, prescription drugs, and other out-of-pocket expenses related to treatment. A survey of cancer survivors found that more than 34% said they did not get the financial support they needed during treatment, either with specific monetary support (32%) or help with financial decisions (20%). About 65% of survivors said they lacked sufficient household income to cover treatment-related expenses.
