Cigna To Sell Its Medicare Advantage Business To Health Care Service Corporation For $3.3 Billion
On January 31, 2024, The Cigna Group entered a definitive agreement to sell its Medicare Advantage business to Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC). The deal is valued at $3.3 billion and is expected to close during the first quarter of 2025. HCSC will acquire The Cigna Group's Medicare Advantage, Cigna Supplemental Benefits, Medicare Part D, and CareAllies businesses. Additionally, The Cigna Group and HCSC agreed to enter into a four-year services agreement under which Evernorth Health Services, a subsidiary of The Cigna Group, will continue to provide pharmacy benefit services to the Medicare businesses.
