CMS Approves Healthy Pennsylvania 1115 Medicaid Waiver For Redesign & Medicaid Expansion
On August 28, 2014, the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Pennsylvania’s 1115 Medicaid waiver to implement Healthy Pennsylvania. The waiver provisions reform the current Medicaid program and create a new private coverage option (PCO) for the Medicaid expansion population. The Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) projects that more than 600,000 low-income adults ages 21 to 64 will be eligible to enroll in the Healthy Pennsylvania PCO plans. In June 2014, DPW announced it had selected nine insurers to offer PCO plans across the state. Enrollment is slated to begin on December 1 . . .
