CMS Approves New York’s Medicaid Waiver To Launch Regional Social Care Networks
On January 9, 2024, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved New York’s latest amendment to its Medicaid Section 1115 Demonstration, which will allow the state to create two new Medicaid provider organization types: a Health Equity Regional Organization (HERO) and Social Care Networks (SCNs), and to use these entities to better address beneficiaries’ health-related social needs (HRSNs) and to reduce health disparities.
