Congress Unveils American Health Care Act As Potential PPACA Replacement
On March 6, 2017, the House Congressional Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees released the American Health Care Act (AHCA) to repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA). The legislation has provisions to transform Medicaid to a state block grant by 2020, as well as make immediate broad changes to the commercial health insurance individual and group markets.
