U.S. Attorney’s Office Sues To Prevent Philadelphia Supervised Injection Site

On February 5, 2019, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania filed a civil lawsuit against Safehouse, an organization seeking to open a supervised injection site in the City of Philadelphia for people who use illegal drugs. The complaint asks the federal court to declare that supervised injection sites in violation of federal law. This lawsuit is the first of its kind in the United States.
