Feds Deny Kansas Medicaid Extension For KanCare
The Kansas Medicaid program is working to correct problems with its KanCare Medicaid managed care plans that were identified by a federal audit. The audit findings were partially responsible for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) decision in January 2017 to deny the state’s request for a one-year extension of the current KanCare 1115 Medicaid waiver. In its denial notice, CMS also faulted the state for failing to hold public meetings before applying for the wavier extension.
