Feds To Increase Effort To Reduce Medicare & Medicaid Billing Errors

The federal Medicare and Medicaid programs are increasing efforts to detect and prevent billing errors and improper payments to ensure that error rates are no more than 10%. The focus of the efforts includes Medicare fee-for-service, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D, and the federal Health Insurance Marketplace program. During federal fiscal year 2015, the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will begin to perform comprehensive risk assessments to determine area that might affect payment accuracy for Medicare and Medicaid claims.
