Family Foster Home Placements Had Better Outcomes Than Group Home Placements In Florida
Florida children who entered foster care during fiscal year 2010-2011 and were placed in group homes had worse outcomes than children placed in family foster homes over a three-year period. A survey of youth who aged out of foster care found that, compared to youth who were placed in family foster homes, youth placed in group homes were less likely to be adopted, less likely to complete high school, and were more likely to be involved with the corrections system.
