Florida Medicaid To Launch Child Welfare Specialty Plan Enrollment In May 2014

In May 2014, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) will launch enrollment in a new Medicaid managed care Child Welfare Specialty Plan for foster children. The statewide plan is operated by Sunshine Health, a Centene subsidiary, in conjunction with Community-Based Care Integrated Health (CBCIH). The five-year contract is valued at $1.1 billion. Approximately 31,600 Florida children are eligible to enroll in the Child Welfare Specialty Plan because foster children are automatically enrolled in Medicaid. Enrollment will take place in four regional waves starting May 1, 2014, with statewide implementation anticipated by August 1, 2014 . . .
