Hepatitis C Cure Rates Among People In Opioid Treatment Higher For Telemedicine Than In-Person
Hepatitis C cure rates for people in opioid treatment were 90.2% for those using telemedicine for hepatitis C treatment, and 39.4% for those receiving in-person treatment. Treatment initiation rates were twice as high among those referred to telemedicine hepatitis C treatment, at 92.4%, compared to 40.4% for those referred to in-person treatment.
Hepatitis C treatment during opioid treatment included direct-acting antivirals which were overseen by a liver specialist through either facilitated telemedicine integrated into opioid treatment programs, or standard-of-care off-site referrals for in-person treatment from an out-of-clinic . . .
