HHS Distributing $560 Million In Provider Relief To Health Care Organizations Affected By COVID-19

On February 24, 2022, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) began distributing $560 million in Phase 4 Provider Relief Fund (PRF) payments to health care provider organizations and suppliers affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The Phase 4 payments have an increased focus on equity, including reimbursing a higher percentage of losses for smaller provider organizations and incorporating bonus payments for provider organizations that serve Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Medicare beneficiaries. The payments are based on changes in operating revenues and expenses from July 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021.
