Immigration & Customs Enforcement Contracting Practices Questioned As Expansion Plans Grow
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intends to more than double its detention capacity to 107,000 beds by the end of 2025, according to a Congressional committee letter citing various concerns about ICE. The letter was issued on September 2025, by U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement of the House Committee on the Judiciary. The letter asked the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to review ICE policies and procedures.
