Recently Released New Mexico Behavioral Health Audit Reveals Previously Redacted Names & Scope Of Medicaid Fraud Allegation
On January 29, 2015, the incoming New Mexico Attorney General released the full text of a 2013 audit of the state’s 15 largest non-profit behavioral health provider organizations that resulted in Medicaid payholds; the document reveals previously redacted information – in particular the organization's names, their Medicaid claims error rates, and the dollar value of alleged fraudulent billing. In June 2013, the New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) had released a redacted summary of the audit findings, and said it believed the findings indicated a credible allegation of Medicaid fraud totaling about $36 million over the three years . . .
