Indiana Family Case Manager Sues State Department Of Child Services Over High Caseload

On July 14, 2015, a family case manager employed by the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) sued the state over high caseloads. The lawsuit was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana on behalf of DCS family case manager (FCM) Mary Price and all other FCMs employed by the state agency. Indiana law (Code 31-25-2-5) sets the FCM maximum caseload at 17 or 12 active cases relating to initial assessments. Mary Price is currently handling 43 ongoing cases. No hearing date has been set.
