Kansas Senate Votes To Authorize Pilot Program Creating New Class Of Foster Care Family
On February 23, 2016, the Kansas Senate voted to approve legislation that would create a pilot program to build foster care capacity by creating a new class of foster care family. Kansas Senate Bill (SB) 410 calls on the Department for Children and Families (DCF) to license a special category of foster care parents to be known as a CARE family, if the family meets very specific qualifications. The legislation provides a pathway for curriculum reimbursement for CARE foster families who choose to home school children in foster care placed in their homes.
