KidsPeace To Close Mesabi Academy In Minnesota
On May 19, 2016, KidsPeace announced plans to close Mesabi Academy, a 123-bed juvenile treatment facility in Minnesota, by June 30, 2016. The announcement came after the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) froze new admissions to the facility during an investigation of alleged maltreatment by St. Louis County. KidsPeace is working with county placing agencies to transition youth at Mesabi Academy back to their placing agency and close the program.
