Medicaid Covered 19.6% Of Americans In 2015

In 2015, about 19.6% of Americans were enrolled in Medicaid, representing 62.4 million people. Medicaid enrollments in 2015 were 0.1% higher than the 2014 enrollment of 61.7 million people.

In total, about 90.9% of Americans were insured and 9.1% were uninsured. Most of those with insurance, 55.7% were covered by an employment-based health plan. About 16.3% were covered by direct purchase insurance. About 4.7% were covered by military health care. About 16.3% were enrolled in Medicare.
