Medicare To Expand Payment For Diabetes Prevention Programs
In its final updates to the 2017 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) expanded payment for the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) Model beginning January 1, 2018. The MDPP core benefit is a 12-month intervention to be provided by trained community health workers or health professionals in community and health care settings. For the first six months, the benefit covers at least 16 weekly core hour-long sessions.
