MedPAC Recommends CMS Make Changes To Proposed MACRA Alternative Payment Model

MedPAC recommended that federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) make changes to its proposal for the alternative payment models (APM) authorized by the Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). The MACRA legislation created two new value-based provider organization reimbursement models to replace Medicare fee-for-service rate increases based on the sustainable growth rate (SGR) methodology. The new models are— Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and APM.
