Medicare Rates Expected To Rise 2.5% For Inpatient Psychiatric Facilities In Fiscal 2023

On July 29, 2022, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the fiscal year (FY) 2023 Inpatient Psychiatric Facilities (IPF) Prospective Payment System (PPS) rule, which proposes increasing the IPF PPS rates by 2.1%. Relative to FY 2022, total IPF PPS payments during FY 2023 are projected to increase by 2.3% (about $90 million). The proposal goes into effect on October 1, 2022.

An additional update to the outlier threshold will hold outlier payments at 2.0% of total payments. This proposal is anticipated to result in a 0.2% overall increase to aggregate payments due . . .
