Medicare To Shorten 2015 Meaningful Use Reporting Period To 90 Days
On January 29, 2015, the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced plans to shorten the reporting period for the 2015 Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Meaningful Use Incentive program to 90 days, the same as in 2014. Without change to the program rules, the 2015 EHR reporting period would have been 365 days.
The plan to shorten the 2015 reporting period is part of a larger plan to update the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Meaningful Use Incentive programs and respond to provider organization concerns about EHR software implementation and their readiness for information exchange.
