Montana Governor’s 2016-2017 Budget Includes Provision For Medicaid Expansion

On November 17, 2014, Montana Governor Steve Bullock released his budget proposal for the 2017 biennium; the budget includes a provision to pursue Medicaid expansion via the Healthy Montana Plan. The plan would expand Medicaid coverage to 70,000 uninsured low-income working age adults, including 9,500 veterans and their families. The Governor’s press release describes the Healthy Montana Plan as “a made-in-Montana model that accepts federal funds to expand health coverage, while reducing medical costs and improving patient health and productivity.”
