New York To Continue Coverage Of Extended Medicaid Telehealth Services Through 2024
On July 31, 2023, the New York State Department of Health (DOH) announced ongoing Medicaid coverage for telehealth services through December 31, 2024. The state will cover audio-visual, store-and-forward, remote patient monitoring, and telephone consultations conducted by any Medicaid-enrolled provider organization as long as the service is clinically appropriate for delivery via telehealth and meets the patient's needs and preferences. The services include consultation, medication management, virtual patient education, and virtual check-in. The state anticipates adding eConsults, interprofessional consultations between a treating/requesting health care professional and a consulting professional, usually a specialist.
