On July 3, 2024, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed legislation to mandate payment parity for telehealth services. The law applies to commercial health insurers and managed care plans. It sets accessibility standards for state Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage.

The legislation, Senate Bill (SB) 739, directs commercial health insurers and managed care organizations that cover a health care service that is performed in person to cover the same service via telemedicine if the required standard of care is met.
