Pennsylvania Adds Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services To Medicaid State Plan
On February 6, 2026, Pennsylvania Medicaid announced that psychiatric rehabilitation services (PRS) had been added to the Medicaid State Plan, retroactive to January 1, 2026. The addition followed approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on January 30, 2026.
Prior to January 1, 2026, PRS was available only to Medicaid beneficiaries enrolled in a Medicaid Behavioral Health HealthChoices managed care plan and was offered as an “in lieu of” service. Going forward, PRS is available as a State Plan service to Medicaid beneficiaries in both the fee-for-service and Behavioral Health HealthChoices delivery systems.
