Philadelphia Launches Pilot To Provide Pregnant Women With $1,000 Per Month Through Baby’s First Birthday
On June 24, 2024, the city of Philadelphia launched the Philly Joy Bank, a pilot that will provide 250 pregnant women in three neighborhoods with a $1,000 per month stipend during the baby’s first year. The pilot will serve pregnant women and people in Cobbs Creek, Strawberry Mansion and Nicetown-Tioga. These neighborhoods were chosen because across the city they have the highest number of infants born with very low birthweights.
