Each Affiliated Physician Generates $1.6 Million Annually In Hospital Revenue

In a survey conducted in early 2016, hospital chief financial officers (CFOs) said physicians generate an average of $1.56 million each in net inpatient and outpatient revenue for the hospital. The revenue generated by physicians increased by 8.3% over the $1.44 million reported in the 2013 survey.

In the 2016 survey, primary care physicians (family practice, pediatrics, and internal medicine) generated $1.40 million, down from the $1.57 million they generated in 2013. Specialists generated $1.61 million, up 12.8% from the $1.42 million they generated in 2013.
