Premiums For 2016 Federally Facilitated Health Insurance Marketplace Plans Up 13% Over 2015

Average 2016 premiums for the lowest cost Silver-level health plans for a 50-year old non-smoker through the federally facilitated Health Insurance Marketplace are $436, about 13% higher than the $386 average premium in 2015. Of the 34 states participating in the federally-facilitated marketplace, the steepest premium hikes were in Alaska, where prices increased by 40%, from $683 to $956; and Montana, where prices increased 35%, from $331 to $447.
