Psychotropic Medication Linked To Increased Risk Of Dementia Following COVID-19
Older adults taking psychotropic medications had a higher risk of developing dementia following hospitalization for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). About 12.7% of older adults hospitalized for COVID-19 developed dementia in the year after the hospitalization. About 24% of those who took psychotropic medications developed dementia during the year after hospitalization, compared to 9% among those who did not take psychotropics.
