In 2015, about 4.9 million people worldwide were enrolled in mobile remote health monitoring programs that used  connected medical devices. This is an increase of 63% from the end of 2013, when about three million people worldwide were using a connected home medical monitoring device. These estimates are only for medically prescribed connected home medical monitoring devices, and exclude connected medical devices used for various forms of personal health tracking.
